To fulfill our core mission of reducing food waste, the Use-Me mobile application requires access to your device's camera for intelligent features.
How we use your Camera:
- Vision Recognition: To identify food items and products via image analysis.
- Expiration Tracking: To capture packaging dates via AI.
- Bulk Entry: To scan grocery receipts.
- Recipe Media Sharing: To capture and upload photos or videos of your prepared recipes for community and social media promotion (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X).
AI Processing:
- Google Gemini: Advanced AI processing for recipes and recognition.
- Privacy First: We process static images for recognition only.
- User Control: Revoke camera access anytime in device settings.

Fraud Prevention & Quota Enforcement
To enforce our Free Tier limits and prevent abuse (such as account cycling), we may generate and securely store an anonymous Device Identifier on your device. This identifier is used exclusively for internal first-party quota tracking. It does not track your activity across other companies' apps or websites, ensuring strict compliance with App Store and Google Play privacy guidelines.
Data Infrastructure & Third-Party Processors
To provide reliable and secure real-time services, Use-Me partners with leading cloud providers:
Google Cloud & Firebase
All application databases, user authentication records, and real-time inventory assets are securely hosted and encrypted using Google Firebase infrastructure (European data centres). Firebase is compliant with GDPR, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.
Google Gemini API
Anonymized inventory data (such as product names and ingredient lists) are processed through Google Gemini AI models strictly to generate culinary insights, shelf-life predictions, and recipe suggestions. No personal identifying information (PII) is ever shared with AI models.
Data Deletion & Retention
We provide easy ways for you to control and delete your data:
- Data Reset: You can clear all local data via Settings > Data & Privacy.
- Account Deletion: Permanent removal of all server-side data can be requested via the Profile settings or by emailing info@use-me.ch.
- Retention: Personal data is purged from our production databases within 30 days of account deletion.
